Micael Galvao
Micael Galvao, popularly known as “Mica,” is an amazing and highly decorated Jiu-Jitsu competitor from Manaus, Brazil. Born on October 8, 2003, Galvao is known for his early success on the world level Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Submission Grappling circuit. This success includes having won many IBJJF championships and making a statement in no gi competition on the “Who’s number one” stage. As a teenager, one of the things that made Galvao stand out from other competitors was that he easily submitted black belts in both gi and no-gi competitions. With the video clips of these submissions going viral on social media, the word about this phenomenon started to spread around fast. After an amazing competition campaign in 2020 having defeated world renown black belts on the “Who’s number one” stage, Galvao was promoted to Black Belt on July 09, 2021 by his father and coach Melqui Galvao. Unfortunately, due to the timing of the promotion, Galvao wasn’t able to showcase his talent on the IBJJF world stage in 2021. Galvao waited patiently all while keeping busy in as many competitions as possible until this past weekend where he debuted in the Lightweight division. He became the youngest black belt to ever win an IBJJF world title. Galvao is also a 2021 Abu Dhabi World Pro champion in the 77kg black belt division and has recently won the ADCC South American trials; these accomplishments are guaranteeing him a chance to compete in this upcoming September for gold at the 2022 ADCC Submission grappling world championships in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
